- The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is warning people that rattlesnakes are waking up from hibernation and that populations might be higher this year due to heavier rainfall last year. I haven’t seen any around my part of Clovis, but people near the mountains and foothills should be particularly careful. Rattlesnakes are usually pretty lazy and won’t cause trouble if left alone, but many dogs don’t know better.
- Lost pitbull in Fresno. Happy ending to this story. The dog has reunited with its family thanks to a Facebook post that went viral. If you ever lose or find a dog, social media is a great way to find the owners.
- Cases of valley fever are increasing in the Central Valley, and dogs are not immune. From the article: Most cases in Fresno County are on the west side, but the fungus spores spread when it’s windy… Dr. Chris Dobbins with Pet ER says our four-legged friends aren’t immune, “With all of our agriculture when we have all of the dust blowing around that’s when we’re going to be inhaling these. What do dogs do they roll around in the dirt same with the cats so either one of those is going to be the source of getting into their system.”
